Asheville North Carolina is situated on the French Broad River valley between the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. Asheville is known for its beautiful mountains and varied topography of pasture land, valleys, rolling meadows, mountain peaks, knolls and breathtaking views. There is no better way to see the mountain ranges and scenery in and around Asheville than to take a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is freely accessible from many locations in Asheville. The Blue Ridge Parkway extends from the Great Smoky Mountains 470 miles to Shenandoah National Park in North Virginia.
Asheville has a true, four-season climate with mild seasons with spectacular views of brilliant colors during the fall season. Average elevation in the Asheville area is 2,165 feet above sea level, but has elevations of up to 6,685 feet.
